Downloading an Audio File to Your VictorStream

I'm assuming here that you already connected your VictorStream to a computer using a USB cord.  If you need a quick review of the VictorStream, select this link:

Victor Reader Stream Tutorial

After you on the VictorStream, give the computer a moment to  recognize it.  Now, go to my the blog for my Physical Science class from last year:

Physical Science Blog

Find an audio file of a chapter from our textbook under the section "Class Materials".  Right click it and select "save as".  Save it directly into the VictorStream in the podcasts folder.  After you power off the VictorStream, disconnect it from the computer.  Congratulations!  The file is transferred.  When you power the VictorStream back up, you will find the newly transferred file in you podcasts folder.

Welcome to Assistive Technology from WCBVI

Let me introduce myself.  I am Lee Gamble.  I have taught science and math at Wisconsin School for the Visually Handicapped (WSVH) in Janesville, Wisconsin for six years.  For ten years before teaching in Janesville, I taught as a regular education science teacher.  I have enjoyed discovering and working with technology to help me help students access academic materials in my classroom to such an extent that I recently started a new position.  I have just recently begun work in the Wisconsin Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired (WCBVI) as their new Assistive Technology Specialist.  It is my goal to support the important work of teachers and parents using technology to help provide access to the materials students use in the classroom.  Therefore, I am priviledged to help with the course "Teaching Assistive Technology to the Blind and Visually Impaired".

I have found that using computer technology for classroom assignments often makes learning materials more accessible for students.  I have used blogging in my classroom as a means of assigning tasks for students, providing a forum for students to discuss topics from class, and providing links to digital copies of handouts and classroom notes.  I encourage you to use this blog as a means of discussing issues relevent to the use of assistive technology.  By all means, let me know what links or gadgets I can add to this blog to make it more useful to you.  Please start by commenting to this post.  I'm just looking for you to say "Hi".
